The exhibition "MASK" is a curatorial project by Professor Monika Popova and represents a year-long exploration of the visual concept of the mask.
The project has been developed in various locations, including the Contemporary Ceramics Festival in Jingdezhen, China, as well as at New Bulgarian University (NBU), where the theme of the mask inspired hundreds of young people to install their works along the university’s walls.
The exhibition MASK presents the final selection of artistic interpretations that emerged from this creative marathon of large-scale university drawing sessions.
Professor Popova will also invite adjunct NBU lecturer Metodi Popov, who created a series of sculptural masks during a ceramics residency in Sevlievo. After the exhibition, the sculptural works by both artists will also be displayed at New Bulgarian University.
In addition to her three-dimensional pieces, Professor Popova will present 35 of her own drawings combined with embroidery. The embroidery was crafted by Boyka Dramova and Maria Nikolova, to whom special thanks are extended!
